I’ve been lax in writing in my blog because I’ve been spending a lot of time working on my novel, A Warrior’s Son, which I hope to have published in January. It’s about a 13 year old boy who grows up while his dad serves three tours of duty in Iraq. While it could be considered young adult I think it will make interesting reading for adults too.
Editing has been a lot of work. I’ve had at least 20 people of all ages read the book and have read it and edited it myself at least 20 times. My son and I should have the cover finished this weekend and have everything to the printer on Monday. That’s the goal anyway. Stephen is doing the creative computer work for the cover.
I’m self-publishing the book through Xlibris so anyone who reads this and would like a copy, can order it online once the book is published. I will also post links to my blog. I was fortunate because my son told me I should think about self-publishing so I paid Xlibris a couple years back when I had a lot more money in my pocket. The book will be published in hardcover, paperback, and as an e-book. The company will print the book on demand so I don’t have to pay for any books up front unless I want to take them out and market them myself which I plan on doing at bookstores.
I’m also developing a webpage and learning how to use Twitter and Facebook to market the book.
My generator went out and it put my life on the skids for a few days because the only power I have is solar, wind, and my generator. There had been neither wind or sun so not having a generator made things difficult. The days are also shorter now which means I have a power shortage.
I did have a book published by Parker Publishing in 1978. It was a football book for coaches called Power Six Invert Defense for Winning Football. I saw a copy on Amazon the other day with a price tag of $149. I’m not sure why. I did introduce some new concepts related to using behavioral objectives in coaching and it’s possible that because of it’s uniqueness, it has a high price.
