U.S. Census Bureau: Number of Uninsured Americans Now at 46.6 Million
The U.S. Census Bureau today released its annual report that estimates the number of uninsured Americans, showing that there are now 46.6 million Americans living without health insurance.
As Dr. Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, president and CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), noted in her statement today, this news “should cause all Americans – and especially our nation’s leaders – to reflect on the economic, moral, and medical concerns that arise when tens of millions of our fellow citizens have no health insurance coverage of any kind. The millions of Americans who live without health insurance live sicker and die younger as a result of their lack of access to health care.”
